Code Review
This pull request, generated by Snyk, aims to upgrade the Alpine Linux base image to fix security vulnerabilities. While the intention is correct, the proposed change has critical flaws. The target image version alpine:3.23.2 is invalid and does not exist, which will break the build. More importantly, the change is made to a generated Dockerfile, which should not be edited directly. The correct fix requires updating the versions.json configuration file and regenerating the Dockerfiles with the provided script. My review provides details on how to properly apply this upgrade.

This change introduces two critical issues:
-
Invalid Base Image Version: The base image version
alpine:3.23.2does not exist. This will cause the Docker build to fail with a "manifest not found" error. You should use a valid and recent stable version, for examplealpine:3.20. -
Editing a Generated File: As stated in the header of this file, this Dockerfile is generated by the
apply-templates.shscript and should not be edited directly. Any manual changes will be overwritten the next time the script is run.
To fix this correctly, you should:
- Modify
versions.jsonto replace the"alpine3.17"variant with a new, secure one (e.g.,"alpine3.20"). This change should be applied for all relevant Python versions in that file. - Run the
./apply-templates.shscript to regenerate the Dockerfiles. This will create a new directory (e.g.,3.10/alpine3.20/) with the correctly updatedDockerfile. You should then commit this new file, the updatedversions.json, and remove the old3.10/alpine3.17/directory.
While the suggestion below fixes the invalid image version, you must address the second point by modifying the source configuration instead of this generated file.
